One significant challenge that engineers and operators grapple with is the impact of lightning strikes on these towering structures.

As the current President and CEO of Weather Guard Lightning Tech, he designed the StrikeTape lightning diverter system to protect wind turbines and aircraft worldwide. Michael Bryan is the Asset Manager at the Tucson Electric Power (TEP) Oso Grande Wind Farm. Michael joined TEP in 2004 as an operator at the Springerville Generating Station (SGS) and quickly transitioned into the Chemical Technician role. After a brief hiatus Michael came back to TEP as the Chemical Services Supervisor supporting water treatment, boiler reliability, and cycle chemistry at SGS. After five years of being the Chemical Services Supervisor Michael transitioned to his current role as the Asset Manager for Oso Grande Wind. This role provided him with the opportunity to standup Oso Grande Wind from the start of construction through commercial operation where he is today.
